The Brief

Fuji-film Student Awards 2012

Fuji-film Student Awards 2012 The theme for the Fujifilm Student Awards 2012 is 'Extreme'.
‘Extreme’ encompasses many things:
Sports, action, adrenalin, weather, wealth, poverty, heat, cold, passion – the list goes on…

The brief is to capture the word ‘Extreme’ in a photograph.
You may decide to shoot a series of images, but the judges will be looking for a single image as the winner. Please feel free to submit your series as single images. There is no limit to the number of entries you can send in. The judges often look for images that stand out from the crowd and really push the creative boundaries. Copy-cat and look-alike shots from previous years or other competitions are not usually given high marks. Take the brief as wide as you like but try to show the benefits of shooting on film, rather than digital. The Fujifilm Student Awards aim to showcase silver halide film at its finest.
Shooting on film encourages a 'quality not quantity' mind set. Aim to get everything right before pressing the shutter; to achieve the perfect image that doesn't require post production.
Experiment too with different emulsions... traditional black and white, black & white CN (C41 process), colour negative and colour transparency. The slower speed of Velvia 50, for example, will provide exceptionally sharp and punchy images capable of great enlargement, whereas high speed emulsions will give a nice grain that can be exploited for effect. Cross and Push processing E6 film is also another great way to achieve something different.

Fujifilm Assignment - Extreme

Fujifilm Assignment

In this assignment we have been asked to design an image that represents the word extreme. We can show this however we like the only catch is it has to be shot on a film camera. We will then enter a competition with Fujifilm and be judged. The overall winning photographer will win: £200 worth of Fujifilm film, a professionally produced portfolio courtesy of Metro print, a Trophy and the title 'Fujifilm Student Photographer of the Year 2012'. The winner will also receive 12 month's mentoring from the team at Metro print. Up to 30 Merit runner-up winners will each receive 10 rolls of Fujifilm film.
We have 6 weeks to produce this project and make sure its handed in.

description of different shots- VIDEO

Wide angle - this is a shot from a camera that allows you to see the whole image and the background with all of it in focus. this is due to adjusting the lens to make sure that the picture your trying to take is all in within the eye.

Close up - this is a shot of a close up. a close up shot is where you take a picture of someone or something very close therefore you do not see the background it is usually just the center of the object/thing.
you have to make sure you are in focus with the object to make this shot a success.

video clips

so this is me being stupid yes i had a rough day and no i do not look like this normally :/ anywhoooooooo, its a close up shot
so with a close up shot you have to make sure that the object you are focusing on is actual in focus, also try not to have as much background as usual this is so that you can clearly focus on the object in tact.

this is ella power catch her on my profile (: yes she is this ugly and no she didn't do this as a joke. anywhooooooo its a close up shot

To film this we used a flip camera as it was more suitable to walk round with due to its small and contempt facilities. I have posted this on my log just as a draft piece of filming as i was our first time using this piece of equipment.
I will be uploading new videos that i have filmed to show you my real attempts of different angles and different shots
such as:
pan left to right
pan right to left
close up
wide angle
tilt from top to bottom
tilt from bottom to top
these are all type of angle shots that i will soon be posting, as i will attempt them with a SONY HDR video camera which is a more technical camera that specifies in each of these shots. also i will be using a tripod to handle the camera easier.
